Yarn Along – another pair of our Family Socks (a very tiny one…)

Our newest family member, Ronja – our daughter's Waldorf Doll, likes to be barefoot most of the time. (Which is most practical anyway, climbing apple trees etc….)

In the evening though, her feet get cold though and she likes it cozy, so I am making her a pair of our (almost traditional) Family Socks.

Casting on 24 stitches with common sock yarn, dividing them onto three No. 3 needles, casting off at about 10 cm.

Talking about Apple Trees. We are enjoying this book "Der Apfelbaum" (The Apple-Tree) by one of my favorite Austrian writers of childrens' books, Mira Lobe. The children love to hear how the old apple tree welcomes all the animals in his twigs and roots.

Hach, Mira Lobe. Ihr Kleines Ich bin Ich ist aus meiner Kindheit nicht wegzudenken. Aktuell lesen wir mit den Kindern "Der Apfelbaum". Nicht in Reimform, aber nicht weniger entzückend schreibt die österreichische Autorin über den alten Apfelbaum, der Gäste in seiner Krone und seinen Wurzeln herzlich willkommen heißt.

Da hätte bestimmt auch unsere Ronja Platz gefunden. Ihr wisst ja, sie klettert gerne auf (Apfel-)Bäume. Wie praktisch, dass sie am Liebsten barfuss rumläuf, überhaupt jetzt im Sommer. Aber abends ist ihr doch manchmal kalt an den Füssen, deshalb stricke ich gerade ein (sehr kleines) Paar Familiensocken für sie. Aus der altbewährten Sockenwolle; 24 Maschen auf drei 3er-Nadeln.
