Joining Ginny again today, I am having a bit of a bad conscience about introducing a german book again, that I couldn’t even find an english translation for: „Das Leben meiner Mutter“ („The Life of my Mother“) by Oskar Maria Graf, a bavarian writer, who describes the peasant (and tough) life of his mother.

Der Bayer, der in Lederhosen durch die Straßen von New York ging (1938 emigriert), schrieb ein Zeitzeugnis über das bäuerliche (und harte) Leben seiner Mutter, Resl Heimrath, im Süden von München. Ein beeindruckendes Buch. Und ein beeindruckendes Leben.
